Community Painting Project
Middle School
Local teens from South Orange and Maplewood, NJ participated in a painting workshop at the South Orange Public Library.
Students learned about minimalist sculpture and looked at the work of Tony Smith, whose sculpture, Tau, is featured at the South Orange duckpond. They discussed abstraction in sculpture, learned how to draw 3D geometric forms and how to mix acrylic paint colors.
Their paintings were displayed together in the library to create one large mural.
